Thread
Machine embroidery commonly uses either polyester or Rayon embroidery thread. Other threads are used, but those are the two most popular. 40wt thread is the most commonly used embroidery thread weight.
 

Polyester Thread - 1000M High sheen 40 wt polyester thread for machine embroidery and decorative stitching. 1000 meters per spool. 160 colors available.	Polyester Thread - 5000M Large 5000 meter cones of high sheen 40 wt. polyester thread for machine embroidery and decorative stitching. 120 colors available. Cotton Thread Long staple, mercerized 100% cotton thread for hand and machine quilting. It is also excellent for general sewing, piecing, appliqué, serging. 50/3ply. 1000 meters (1100 yds) per spool. Available 26 colors.	Heavy Duty Cotton Thread Long staple, mercerized, 40 weight, 100% cotton thread for long arm machine quilting. Backing/Stabilizer
Materials, generally non-woven textiles, which are placed inside or under the item to be embroidered. The backing provides support and stability to the garment which will allow better results to the finished embroidered product. Backings come primarily in two types: cutaway and tearaway. With cutaway, the excess backing is cut with a pair of scissors. With tearaway, the excess is simply torn away after the item is embroidered. Additional types which are dissolved either by water or heat also exist. For all of these the terms backing and stabilizer are often used interchangeably.
